Through training, financial empowerment, and strategic partnerships, Rugori Investment Network is supporting women motor riders to strengthen their businesses, build confidence, and create sustainable livelihoods.

In Rwanda’s transportation industry, where men have traditionally dominated, the women of Ndabaga CBC Cooperative are demonstrating that opportunity, determination, and access to resources can open new paths for women in business.

Established in 2019, Ndabaga CBC Cooperative is a women-owned cooperative of more than 70 motor riders who are building their livelihoods in the transportation sector. As one of the enterprises funded by Rugori Investment Network, the cooperative represents the potential of women-led businesses to contribute to economic growth while challenging traditional perceptions of women’s roles in the industry.

Through a partnership between Rugori Investment Network, New Faces New Voices Rwanda, and the Mastercard Foundation, members of the cooperative have received training and financial empowerment to strengthen their businesses and build confidence in their work. This support helps women develop their entrepreneurial capacity, improve their business practices, and pursue greater economic independence.

For the members of Ndabaga CBC Cooperative, the impact extends beyond individual businesses. Their collective journey demonstrates the value of working together, sharing experiences, and creating opportunities that benefit both members and the communities they serve.

Operating in a sector where women remain underrepresented requires resilience and determination. By building their businesses and establishing their presence in transportation, these women are challenging existing barriers and showing what is possible when women have access to the right support and opportunities.

The experience of Ndabaga CBC Cooperative also highlights the importance of investing in women-owned enterprises. Financial support, combined with relevant training and business development opportunities, can help entrepreneurs strengthen their operations, build confidence, and create more sustainable livelihoods.

For Rugori Investment Network and its partners, supporting enterprises such as Ndabaga CBC is part of a broader commitment to expanding economic opportunities for women and young people. By investing in businesses with the potential to grow, the partnership contributes to stronger enterprises, improved livelihoods, and more inclusive economic participation.

More than 70 women. One cooperative. One shared journey.

The story of Ndabaga CBC Cooperative is a reminder that when women are empowered to build and grow their businesses, the benefits reach beyond the individual. They extend to families, communities, and the wider economy.

This is what investing in women-owned enterprises looks like: creating opportunities, strengthening livelihoods, and keeping impact in motion.
